Moscow 2012. Effects and impacts.

Abstract
Moscow is the largest city in the world situated so far from equator, its agglomeration has a population of 17,2 million people. Represents the capital of snow agglomerations, where average annual daytime air temperature is 5,8 °C. Moscow is one of the world’s megacities. Moscow faces the same problems and challenges of large cities as anywhere else: big waste generator, air pollution, emerging lifestyles in emerging conditions, cultural and social changes, transformation of visual environment, of urban landscape. In 2011 confines of Moscow City were changed: expansion of the Moscow City territories to the south-west due to incorporation of the part of the Moscow region territories. In 2012 International Urban Competition for the elaboration of the Draft Concept of the Moscow City Agglomeration development were held. The competition and its result had made a significant influence on the contemporary urban development of the city – Moscow needs the transformation and rethinking of urban systems. New city development challenges and new goals were announced. After this event, numerous competitions were held in Moscow, among which are: International contest for the Concept of urban development of the territories adjacent to the Moscow river (2014), Competition for the Concept of the Park for the Historic District of Zaryadie (2013), Competition for the design of the industrial “ZIL” areas (2012), reconstructions of Gorky Park, of Garden Neskychnyj, of Museon Art Park with their integration into one park along the river Moskva, Architectural and urban planning competition for the development of concepts for experimental housing renovation sites and etc. Also begun new changes in urban transport politics, transformation of public transport. Begun the urban transformations in streets design and public places. Appeared new types of business related to urban planning. Also, other cities prepared their concepts for city development, among which are: Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Kirovsk, Svobodny and etc. New state programs for urban development: projects for smart cities, for public spaces (Competition for historic and small towns). And the last one: announcement of new urban planning tools for large cities. Are those programs and actions enough for Moscow? Which opportunities are offered by Moscow? In paper will be analysed changes and transformations after Competition of 2012 for Moscow in urban development and urban politics in Moscow and its influence on Russian context through the concept of enhancement of culture, territory and landscape, as a future which happened.
